If you are unhappy with the roundness of your face and want it to appear thinner, Dr. Wendel may recommend buccal fat removal. Buccal fat pads are stored near the corners of your mouth above the jawline. These fat pockets can be removed to give your face a leaner, more contoured shape.

CHOOSING BUCCAL FAT REMOVAL

All of us have buccal fat pads, which are small pockets of fat that sit just above the jawline. As a result of genetics or weight gain, these pads can be larger in some people, causing the face and cheeks to appear chubby. For a more contoured look, Dr. Wendel may recommend buccal fat pad removal.

BUCCAL FAT REMOVAL PROCEDURE

Dr. Wendel will perform this surgery using general anesthesia. After making an incision on the inside of the mouth, he will apply pressure to the cheeks so that he can extract the fat pads. Then, he will close up the incision with sutures. Dr, Wendel will go over recovery instructions in order to minimize discomfort.
