If you have lost a significant amount of weight and have excess, loose skin in the upper leg and hip area, or if you are displeased with the shape of your thighs, you could be a candidate for a thigh lift. The procedure goes one step further than liposuction to improve the contours of your thighs, removing not only thigh fat, but also excess skin.

Thigh Lift

If you have lost a significant amount of weight and are displeased with the excess, loose skin in the upper leg and hip area, you could be a candidate for a thigh lift. Many times, these candidates are also unhappy with the shape of their thighs, which happen to be dimpled, flabby or saggy too. This is different than thigh liposuction because it goes one step further, in that it not only removes thigh fat, but also removed excess skin that is getting in the way.

Different types of thigh lifts are available:

  • Hip or Lateral: Outer thigh lift
  • Medial: Inner thigh lift

Thigh Lift Surgery

Dr. Wendel will perform inner or outer thigh lift in Nashville using anesthesia in a fully accredited surgical facility. To begin the procedure, Dr. Wendel will move the patient on their side to allow for sufficient access to the fat on the back of the thighs. He will make a surgical incision in the inner or outer thigh region to remove and drape the excess sagging skin. Liposuction may also be performed in the fatty areas to improve the thigh contours. Dr. Wendel will suture the incision and go over your recovery instructions in order to minimize any discomfort.

FAQ's
How much excess skin can a thigh lift remove?
There are two types of thigh lift, horizontal thigh lift and vertical thigh lift. The first involves a scar along the groin crease; the second adds a vertical scar down the length of the inner thigh toward the knee. The amount of excess skin which can be removed varies from person to person. The goal is to achieve a contoured and toned looking thigh. The trade-off for skin removal is the thigh lift scar which can be semi-hidden inside the thighs and will fade over time.
Do I need a thigh lift or liposuction?
Thigh lift surgery is recommended for people with sagging skin. Sometimes, liposuction is a part of the thigh lift procedure. Liposuction is recommended for people who have been looking to lose stubborn fat in targeted areas but do not have a lot of sagging skin. Liposuction can also make the saggy skin worse, especially in weight loss patients.
What Are the Scars Like after Thigh Lift?
You will likely have a horizontal scar in the groin area and may have a vertical scar along the inside of your thigh, depending on the type of thigh lift you have. Thigh lift scars, as do most scars, will lighten and fade over time.
What happens at my initial consultation?
During your consultation with Dr. Wendel, he will discuss your goals, the nature of the thigh lift, and what you can expect regarding recovery, complications, and scars. After talking with Dr. Wendel, you will meet with our surgery scheduler to discuss cost, payment options, and scheduling surgery.
After the initial consultation, how many more visits will I make to your office before the surgery?
In addition to the initial consultation, you’ll make one more preoperative appointment. At this appointment, you will discuss any questions that may have arisen, talk about specific details of the surgery, review pre and post op instructions. Prescriptions will be prescribed electronically. You will also have pre-operative photos taken for your medical chart.
How much does a thigh lift cost?
The cost of a thigh lift depends on the type of thigh lift recommended for you. Thigh lifts typically start at $9,800.
What is included in the cost of the procedure?
The cost of your thigh lift includes all pre-op and post-op appointments, anesthesia, the surgery and surgical materials, facility fees, as well as any post-op compression garments. Prescription pain medication is not covered in the cost of surgery and is not dispensed by Dr. J.J. Wendel Plastic Surgery.
What are your payment terms?
