Hyperhidrosis (too much sweating) is a medical condition characterized by excessive sweating. This can be embarrassing and interfere with everyday life. This is a common complaint in the underarm area, palms, and soles of the feet. Botox® Cosmetic is used in a series of simple, systematic injections, on a periodic basis, to dramatically decrease the sweating for up to 6 months. Botox® is specifically approved by the FDA as safe for this procedure. Morpheus8 RF Microneedling can also effectively treat hyperhidrosis.

HYPERHIDROSIS TREATMENT FOR EXCESS SWEATING

Do you sweat far more than you should? Hyperhidrosis is a condition that causes excessive and often inappropriate sweating. It can affect the hands, feet, armpits and other parts of the body. If you have hyperhidrosis, you probably sweat for the same reasons as others do including exercise, stress, anxiety, heat, caffeine consumption and illness. However, the amount of moisture your body produces is significantly larger, and you may sometimes sweat for no obvious reason. Hyperhidrosis can cause frequent embarrassment and may even make daily life difficult. The bacteria that grows because of sweat staying on the surface of your skin can cause unpleasant body odors, and over-the-counter antiperspirants and deodorants may not be effective.

WHAT CAUSES HYPERHIDROSIS?

Hyperhidrosis is caused by overactive sweat glands. In many cases, no clear underlying cause for the excessive activity can be found, but the condition may run in families or be secondary to other medical problems. For the majority of sufferers, it’s just an inconvenient and embarrassing problem. Fortunately, Dr. J. J. Wendel Plastic Surgery can treat hyperhidrosis using Botox or Morpheus8 and enable you to live a more normal life without a constant fear of body odor or humiliating wet stains on your clothing.

BOTOX INJECTIONS FOR HYPERHIDROSIS

Periodic Botox injections are extremely effective in treating hyperhidrosis. Injecting the botulinum toxin under the skin temporarily blocks the actions of nerves that supply the eccrine glands, which are responsible for sweat production. The effects of a Botox hyperhidrosis treatment are noticeable within the first week following treatment and continue to relieve symptoms for several months. On average, the treatment produces an 87 percent reduction in sweating after one week. During the treatment procedure, small amounts of Botox are injected into several places within each target area about one centimeter apart. A typical course of treatment takes approximately 30 minutes, and it requires little or no downtime.
